Special Trees Around Town

Certain trees in town have a great, majestic quality to them.  I’ve tried to identify each tree that I’ve found of interest.

Bench Dedications

This is a separate post of just the pictures of dedication plaques from park benches around town.  Most are from Ives Park or Ragle Ranch or Libby Park, but there are a few “solo” benches that have wonderful views.

Street Musicians

Music in the street make a town feel alive.  From full bands to the occasional plunking on a banjo, whenever I hear live music I try to support the players.  The street noise is really loud, with Gravel and Wine Trucks going right through town, but there are timed moments of quiet, thanks to traffic lights.

Dedications

I started to notice a lot of brass plaques around town.  I’m sure there is way more history than can be told by a simple dedication of a building or a bench to a person’s name.   Click on the image to show the pause button if you want to stop the show.  I’ll make a separate post with just “bench dedications”.

Train History

Sebastopol had running freight trains down Main Street until the late 1970’s.  The tracks weren’t removed until the mid 1980’s.  There are still many vestiges of the Petaluma and Santa Rosa Railroad left in town.   At least we can still use the right-of-ways as walking/biking paths.

Coffee (and Tea!) Joints

We are blessed with a plethora of places that have great coffee and tea!  My focus here is on the places that are primarily a coffee/tea joint (as opposed to delis and cafes), but it is hard to know where to draw the line.   I love smelling the Taylor Maid  roasting on a Monday morning.  And we have the best baristas around!
